With Facebook’s latest roll out of their new timeline there have been a lot of grumblings from users. Today Facebook is again a hot Internet Trend because of a rumor swirling on Facebook and the Internet that they will now make users pay a membership fee.
By now many of you may have seen this posting, or a variation of this on your feed, “FACEBOOK JUST RELEASED THEIR PRICE GRID FOR MEMBERSHIP,$9.99 PER MONTH FOR GOLD MEMBER SERVICES,$6.99 PER MONTH FOR SILVER MEMBER SERVICES,$3.99 PER MONTH FOR BRONZE MEMBER SERVICES, FREE IF YOU COPY AND PASTE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. WHEN YOU SIGN ON TOMORROW MORNING YOU WILL BE PROMPTED FOR PAYMENT INFO...IT IS OFFICIAL IT WAS EVEN ON THE NEWS. FACEBOOK WILL START CHARGING DUE TO THE NEW PROFILE CHANGES. IF YOU COPY THIS ON YOUR WALL YOUR ICON WILL TURN BLUE AND FACEBOOK WILL BE FREE FOR YOU. PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ON IF NOT YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED IF YOU DO NOT PAY.”
But is appears this is just a bad rumor, Mashable writes, “These rumors are simply untrue. “It’s free and always will be” is still in giant font on the Facebook homepage. Besides, Facebook is already making billions in revenue .
ZDNet writes, “A new version of an old hoax is spreading on Facebook, trying to warn users that the company will soon start charging you to use the service. It’s bogus, of course.
So if you see this posting that claims Facebook will now start charge a membership fee, it appears this is all just another bad rumor. On the Facebook blog page it lists all of their latest ventures, but no where did this Examiner see on theFacebook blog, about charging a memership fee to use their services.
